Today the first official images of Jared Leto as Joker were revealed in Zack Snyders Justice League. Although the reception of this interpretation has been positive, fans realized that something was wrong with the character, as his tattoos were no longer present. Fortunately, the director of this film has clarified the situation.

Jared Letos Joker first appeared in Suicide Squad, where he was covered in tattoos on all sides, from his hands to his face. Nevertheless, the photos that were revealed today remove this visual element from the character. In this way, Snyder has revealed that this does not have a great explanation, nor does it have a great importance in the story:

Id say there has been a little bit of water under the bridge. Who knows what happened. I dont know if shes wearing makeup, I dont know whats going on. It is difficult to say exactly .

Although Snyder seems to be happy with Letos work, it seems like he wasnt that much of a fan of tattoos and the more upbeat tone that was introduced to us in Suicide Squad. Considering that we will see Joker in a scene where the world was conquered by Darkseid, the director wants to have a consistent tone throughout the film.

Zack Snyders Justice League will premiere on March 18, 2021 on HBO Max. You can check out the first images of Jared Leto as Joker in this film, as well as his role in the story, here.
