Here are the nine men from Hudson Valley charged with participating in Jan. 6 Capitol riot – Times Herald-Record

Nine current or former Hudson Valley residents have been charged with participating in the pro-Trump riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, which resulted in five deaths,injuries for roughly140 police officersand several hundred arrests.

Here are the local suspects, the charges they face and what they are accused of doing. All have been released while their criminal cases are pending except EdwardLang and Thomas Webster, who are being held without bail.

Edward Lang, 25, Newburgh(OrangeCounty). Allegedly battled police for more than two hours outside a Capitol entrance; images in court documents show him wearing a gas mask and swinging an aluminum baseball bat and riot shield at officers. The most serious charge he faces is assaulting officers with dangerous weapons.

William Pepe, 31, Beacon(Dutchess County). Alleged to be a member of the right-wing Proud Boys group and to have illegally entered the Capitol with hundreds of other Trump supporters on Jan. 6. Pepe worked for Metro-North Railroad but was fired in March by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority because of the criminal charges.

Christopher Kelly, 44, New City(Rockland County). Faces four charges: obstruction of an official proceeding; aiding and abetting; unlawful entry to restricted building or grounds; violent entry and disorderly conduct.

William Vogel, 26, Pawling(Dutchess County). Faces three charges: knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; knowingly engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct in any restricted building or grounds; violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

Thomas Webster, 54, Goshen(Orange County). The retired New York City police officer and Marine veteran is accused of menacing a police officer with a Marine flag pole outside the Capitol before tackling him and trying to rip off his helmet and gas mask. Assaulting a police officer with a dangerous weapon is the most serious charge against him. Not accused of going inside the Capitol.

Brian Gundersen, 27,State College, Pa., (originally fromArmonk,Westchester County). Faces five charges for allegedly forcing his way inside the Capitol. Images in court papers show that the 2012 Bryam Hills High School graduate wore his Byram Hills varsity football jacket to the insurrection, which helped police identify him.

RobertoMinuta, 36,Prosper, Texas (originally fromOrange County; owns a Newburgh tattoo shop). Charged in a conspiracy indictment with 11 other members of the Oath Keepers militia, who are accused of planning their involvement in the Capitol attack. Allegedly exchanged phone calls with Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes twice on the day of the riot.

Christopher Moynihan, 30, Salt Point (Dutchess County). Accused of rifling through congressional documents and taking photos of pages with his phone after illegally entering the Capitol. Faces six charges.

Robert Ballesteros,27,Mahopac(Putnam County). Arrested in Rye on March 15, the most recent of the local arrests, and charged with illegally entering the Capitol. "Made my stand," he allegedly boasted on Instagram after being asked about the riot.
